Logan Canyon Endemic Plants

In Logan Canyon, there are six endemic plant species. These specific plants are only found in Logan Canyon.

Draba maguirei

Primula maguirei

A small mustard that grows between 3-9 cm and has delicate yellow flowers. Can be found in damp and shady areas at higher elevations along the canyon.

A small flowering plant that grows 4-10 cm in height and is found in damp overhanging rocks, ledges, and crevices. This species blooms in mid to late May and is considered to be threatened.

Penstemon compactus

Orthocarpus tolmei

This is a penstemon that is found near Tony Grove. It is much shorter than other penstemons in the area. It can be found blooming in mid-July. 

A small and fragile plant that has only been found along a particular segment of the road to Tony Grove Lake. Found in dry soil and blooming in mid-July. Commonly known as Owl's foot.

Erigeron cronquistii

Musineon lineare

The Erigeron is a small daisy-like flower that is found in rock crevices at high elevations such as Mt. Naomi.

A  thin grasslike plant that is found in the rock crevices at high elevations such as Mt. Naomi.

Viola frank-smithii

This is a small violet that is found in clumps along rock walls in the canyon. The flower of the violet is similar to the common violet found in lawns.
