Kestrel had hip surgery on her right hip around the 24th of February.

Kestrel is a 3 year old female long haired German Shepherd Dog. She originally came into the GSD rescue in October of 2001 after running at large in the Salt Lake City area. In February of 2002 it was determined that her hips were badly dysplastic and we elected to have surgery performed on both of them. She is now running happily and pain free, and ready for a new home.

Kestrel had a surgery called a Femoral Head Ostectomy. The link is to a page on a vet's website that shows pictures of a surgery, and x-rays of a dog before and after the surgery, very interesting site!

Her second hip surgery was performed on March 28th.

If you can, please consider donating to the German Shepherd Dog Rescue of Utah (that's our new name!), Inc. Medical Fund. Your donation will help pay for extreme medical needs like Kestrel's surgery, heartworm treatments (we rescued a male GSD last year named Conan who was HW positive) and other situations that the regular adoption fees just can't cover.

Donations may be mailed to German Shepherd Dog Rescue of Utah, Inc., USU Box 1295, Logan, UT 84322-0199. Every little bit helps!
