Northern Utah German Shepherd Dog Rescue works to place loving German Shepherds into permanent homes. These dogs come from a variety of backgrounds, and are carefully screened to check for health and temperament concerns. All dogs placed are wormed, immunized, and spayed or castrated if necessary. Pups too young for neutering are placed on a conditional contract requiring that they be altered when they reach 6 months. NUGSD Rescue serves the intermountain west, accepting and placing dogs in Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Arizona and Nevada.

Adopting an older dog can be a very rewarding experience. Many of our rescues are older dogs that just want a loving home and someone to adore. Please consider making the next addition to your home a deserving senior GSD.

Thor - Adopted!! -
5 year old NM. He has AKC papers that indicate he has both show and
working dogs in his background, with recent german imports. Thor was an owner surrendered dog. He is
affectionate and craves attention, and accepts grooming readily. He
enjoys chasing tennis balls, walks reasonably nicely on leash. He
is very gentle around children, and likes to give kisses. Thor was
adopted by a loving family who lives near Las Vegas, NV. He has a
new sister named Liesel and is being spoiled and loved, taught house
manners, and lovingly nursed back to full health. You can see
pictures of Thor with his new family here.
Kip - Adopted! - approximately 1 year old,
NM. Kip was found wandering in the Salt Lake
City area and went unclaimed at the animal shelter. He has a
beautiful plush coat that will continue to fill out as he receives
good food and care. He not a coated dog, however. Kip is friendly
and loving but somewhat reserved, and accepts grooming readily. He
loves to chase and retrieve tennis balls and carry a squeaky toy around.
He is still very "puppy-ish." Well behaved around other dogs, but
not good with cats. Kip was adopted by a young couple living in the
Salt Lake area.
Kenya - Adopted! - 6 month old SF, GSD mix. Kenya was found
wandering in Logan Canyon and was not claimed by her former owners
despite advertisements in the paper and with local animal controls.
She appears to be about 6 months old and is definitely a GSD mix,
but what she is mixed with is unknown. She weighs about 45 pounds
right now and may not grow much more than another 10 pounds. She is
a bit shy but nice and likes to play with other dogs. Kenya has a
new home in Salt Lake City with a woman that is training her to do
forensic searches.
Ruby - Adopted! - 1 year old SF. Ruby
was very undersocialized in her former home, so it takes her a while to
adjust to new situations. She is doing well in her foster home and
although she is very shy and worried, she does well with the other
dogs. She is quite thin and needs to gain some weight. Ruby gets
along with children and is good with cats. Ruby is now with a
loving family where she has a GSD brother named King that she likes
to play with.
Harley - Adopted! - 4-5 year
old male black and tan, he has gained weight since this picture was
taken. He gets along well with other
dogs, and farm animals, very good with children,
is fairly quiet. Harley also likes to jump
fences and can clear a 6 foot fence with ease, however, he jumps
fences to be WITH people. If you are in the yard, he will not jump.
He will need to be a mostly indoor dog due to his fence jumping.
Very well mannered and calm in the house. May be too rough for
cats (he wants to chase them.)
Rainey - Adopted!
- 10 month old
SF GSD, very pretty with dark coloring.
She is a bit shy but is making friends and playing, and is very
sweet, appears to be good with
cats, good with other dogs. (No, the white shepherd in the pictures
is not available, she is the pet of a friend. :-) )
Rainey has a new home in Colorado with an older brother GSD and a
mom who is going to cook for her and be her devoted slave. :-)
Kaiser - Adopted! -5 year old
NM GSD, current on shots. Nice male, large
size, good with
cats, good with other dogs. This boy is noise sensitive and had to
be given up by his former owners because he lived in an area where
there was frequent blasting and he was injuring himself trying to
get away from the noise. Thunderstorms make him a bit nervous, but not as
panicked as the blasting. He is crate trained and is very happy to
be in a crate, particularly if he is nervous about noises.
He knows sit and down, and accepts
grooming nicely. Very friendly. He likes
balls and kong toys, likes to play with other dogs and roll in the
grass. He is fine around loud noises like vacuums and the lawn mower.
Tuff - Adopted! - 2 year old NM,
almost pure black, very striking looking male, friendly and looking
for just the right person to devote himself to. He is in need of
love and a responsible, caring environment to help him reach his
true potential. Tuff is currently located in Pocatello, Idaho.
You can email his foster mom Kim at:
kdg@if.rmci.net.
Teke - Adopted!! -is a 3 year old SF. She weighs about 65 pounds, is
nice, takes treats gently, likes belly rubs. Very sweet and loving,
accepts grooming nicely, knows sit and stay. Teke loves stuffed
toys and wading in the swimming pool, she'd love to take hikes and
go wading in the streams. Teke gets along
well with other dogs, but can be dominant with more submissive dogs.
She is a very smart dog, learns easily, and she likes to chase
tennis balls. Vaccinations
current through October, already microchipped. Teke is NOT good
with cats or small dogs. Teke now has a new home with a loving mom
who is really enjoying playing with and training Teke.
Kessee - Adopted! 8 month old
COATED black and tan SF, not housetrained,
good with cats and other dogs including very small dogs,
playful energetic puppy given up due to illness in the family. She is shy
and sweet, very pretty. She is very accepting of crates and will
probably housetrain very quickly. She really is an adorable dog and
someone will be very lucky to have her as part of their family.
Kessee has gone to live with a woman who already has a long-coated
GSD male, so she will have a built-in playmate in her new home.
Tai - Adopted!!
3 1/2 yo NM, owner surrender at pound, very
nice dog, calm, loving,
sweet, good with cats and other dogs, housebroken. Here is a picture of Tai, now
"Tyler", in his new home with sisters
Annie (left) and Lexie (right), and mom
Ellen. Tyler's new family reports that he is adjusting well and that
friends often have a hard time telling the dogs apart. They are all
beautiful and very lucky, much loved dogs.
:-)
Bandit - Adopted! 20 week old
male GSD mix, 3/4 GSD, 1/4 ?? (lab? Mother was a full GSD, father
was a mix). Looks somewhat like a GSD in many
respects, but unknown whether or not the ears will come up (my guess
would be no.) Very cute, nice puppy who likes to play with bigger
dogs and with little kids. Bandit now has a very nice family of his
own with another doggie pal and two kids to play with.
Kasia - Adopted! 1 year
old female COATED GSD, she was a stray in Utah county and was ready to be
euthanized when Denise from Save a Pet called us about her. She is
underweight but gaining weight and strength daily. Despite all she has been
through she is quiet, sweet, and loving.
She has been bathed and had the worst of the mats removed and she
accepted the grooming nicely, even laying
down to allow us to work on her tummy. She has now been spayed and
brought up to date on her shots. Kasia now has a mom of her own and
is being spoiled and loved.
Yukon - adopted!
2 year old NM
COATED GSD, black and tan, very friendly, housebroken. His previous

female, friendly, but in need of a diet.
Owner turn in to shelter because they were moving.
Behrn - Adopted 2 to 3
year old NM, was a stray in Cache county and unclaimed at animal
control. He is very thin and appears to have been on his own for a
while, so we are working on fattening him up.
He is nice, knows sit, takes treats nicely,
and is good with all sizes of dogs. He appears to be housebroken. Black and light tan colors.
Merlin -
Adopted! 2 year old
NM black and tan GSD, medium sized. He is housetrained, loving, good
with children. Nice calm dog, sweet, does well in a
crate, enjoys being outside where it is cooler.

2 year old NM, black and tan. Very nice disposition, good with
cats, small dogs, children and adults. Pharo has only been an
outside dog up until now, he is afraid of stairs and linoleum
floors, and is not housebroken. We'd like to see him as part of a
family that will teach him some house manners and give him the love
he deserves.
Penny - Adopted! 14 month old
female GSD, spayed, up to date on shots. Penny is shy at first but
enjoys playing, gets along well with
children and other dogs. Penny
appears to be a purebred GSD but her ears do not stand up, so she
may be a mix. She is not housetrained
yet, but is good in the house and will sleep in a crate. Penny is
really having a great time with her new dad who takes for walks and
lets her run and sniff fun things.
Hutch - 7 year old
NM GSD, dark face with black and tan
coloring, has spent the past 4 years chained up in the
back yard with little attention. He is very fond of his rescuer who
brought him to GSD Rescue, and is looking for a permanent home and
someone to give his love to. Hutch does well with other dogs,
children and adults. He is a sweet dog and is
really enjoying the freedom to roam the kennel
play yard and interact with the other dogs. He knows sit and
down, and walks reasonably well on a leash. He is very friendly and
loves attention and being petted.
Jake - adopted! - 4 year old
NM, found wandering and went unclaimed at the shelter. Jake is very
black, and a handsome boy. He is very
bonded to the people who rescued him, but would transfer that love
and devotion to a new family and give them his heart and soul. He
does best with adults and would prefer to be in a home with at most
one other dog.
Chester - Adopted! - 5 year
old NM, black and tan, very friendly with adults and children,
housebroken, well behaved. Owner had to move out of state suddenly
for a new job and could not take Chester along, he was heartbroken
to give Chester up. Chester suffers from allergies and has a heart
murmur. He has a new family that just adores him and is taking him
on lots of walks.
Jordan - 16 month old NM, Jordan
was found running loose and impounded by WVC. He was rescued before
being euthanized by CAWS workers and fostered for a week, then

dalmation pal named Lady. :-)
Dustin - Adopted! - 14 month
old NM GSD, black and tan, very nice
looking boy. He was found running loose in Filmore, UT and not

now looking for someone who will give him the love he deserves.
Hallas - adopted! -
14 month old NM GSD, black and tan. Hallas is being given up by his current
owner who doesn't have enough time to exercise and care for him. He
is a beautiful black and tan boy, good with
other dogs, LOVES sticks and balls, ok with cats that don't run.
Sadie - Adopted!! - 4 year old female black
and tan GSD. Sadie is a very nice girl, housetrained, used to
living in an apartment with daily walks. She is a bit of an alpha
female so would do best with a more submissive male or as an only
dog. Sadie is very loving and affectionate, likes to play and get
belly rubs. Strong and tends to pull on leash, needs more training.
Not good with cats. Sadie has a wonderful new home with a new mom
that already loves her very much. They are going to be very happy
together.

black and tan. A big boy, he weighs almost 100 pounds. Friendly,

good healthy food and love in his current foster home. His foster
family says he is doing well, is a "velcro" dog, and gets along well
with the other family dogs.
Carbon - Adopted! - 12-14 month NM,
fairly dark coloring although he is a black and tan. Nice, knows
sit, down. Friendly, good with other dogs. Carbon is a fence
jumper, he can easily go over a 6 foot chain link fence, so he needs
to be with a family that will make him an indoors dog, and only
allow him outside when he is supervised (he doesn't jump the fence
if you're out with him, he wants to be with people.)
Weighs 68 pounds, could stand to gain about 20 more.
Female White GSD - adopted through FOA -4 to 6 year
old SF White GSD. Sweet but a bit overweight, she is housetrained,

Lady - Adopted! - approximately 8 month
old female GSD mix, unknown mixture. Has a shepherd type coat,

tell it from this picture, he does have two ears and they both stand
up!

Milo - Adopted by Save a Dog! - approximately 1 year old
male White GSD or GSD/Pyr/Dane? mix (possibly mixed with something
big.) Milo is a big teddy bear, very sweet and affectionate, he
loves all people, dogs and kids. He is houstrained, cratetrained,
and very well mannered. He can jump 6 foot fences, however, so
needs to be in a household where he can be inside when his family
is not home or when he cannot be supervised in his yard. For more
information on Milo, please contact Denise with Save A Dog at
denised@linkbay.com.
Thatcher - Adopted! - one year old male,
black and red, very beautiful coloring. Thatcher is friendly and
very sweet, but has had little to no training. He was found running
loose and never claimed by his previous owner. He is good with
other dogs, very playful, and in need of basic obedience training.
Unknown housetraining status.
Kipper - Adopted! - White, 3.5 year old spayed
female, weight 80 pounds, born 7/24/98. Kipper is good in the house
and needs to be with her people. She is great with children of all
ages and other dogs as well. Kipper has a sweet personality and
would bond easily with someone who would love her let her be a
member of the family. She is leash trained and has had some
obedience training. This dog has been surrendered by her owner and
left at the animal shelter in Nampa, Idaho. Not very good with cats,
wants to chase them. If you want to rescue a
German Shepherd, here's your dog. Kipper has limited time left. For
more information contact Joan at 208-463-9513 or email
hrheart@hotmail.com.
Patch (Smitty) - Adopted! -
6 year old
male, housetrained, friendly, very sweet boy. Patch was given up by
owners who were moving and he is very nervous about his new
surroundings, but learning to settle in. Patch is good with cats
and other dogs, appears to be good with children. He likes going
for car rides. Patch will be joining the webmistress and her
dogs as a permanent family member. Welcome Patch! You can see some
recent pictures of Patch on his very own personal webpage
(which is very plain right now!)

Sydney - Adopted! - 1 to 2 year old female,
beautiful dark glossy coat, black and tan with a slightly longer
than typical coat (but not at all a long hair.) A bit shy, but
within minutes and a few cookies she was rolling over for belly
rubs. Intimidating bark. Owner release for unknown reasons to
animal shelter.
Dakota - Adopted! - 1 to 2 year old male GSD/Belgian Malinois mix, very friendly, a
bit shy. He is a beautiful color
and has a massive head that he
loves to have scratched. He is NOT good with farm animals, has
killed chickens in the past. Probably not good with cats, but is
good with kids and other dogs. Friendly, very intelligent, very
strong. Would probably do best in a situation where he has lots of
contact time with his owner (can go to work with the owner or owner
is home a lot.) Dakota likes balls but isn't quite sure how to play
fetch.
Chautna - Adopted!
Chautna was offered for adoption through an Idaho rescue
and was adopted by her new family who found her on our web page!
Beau - Adopted!
- approximately 8 month old male GSD Mix. Beau is very
sweet, but hasn't had a lot of training. He is good with other dogs
and with kids, behaviour with cats is unknown. Beau has been very
well behaved at adoption events that he's gone to...so quiet that
people haven't noticed him! He is really in need of a good home for
the holidays, can this be the dog you are looking for? Beau is
currently with Uintah Animal
Care. Contact Jacque at hobbs@easilink.com for more
information.
We're happy to report that Beau has found a new home in Colorado
through the work of Uintah Animal Care.
Pepper - Adopted! - 6 to 8 month old
female GSD, sable or faded black and tan
coloring. Pepper is very sweet, but very
energetic and doesn't seem to have had a lot of training. She was
turned into animal control by her previous owner and appears (due to
her thick coat) to have spent most of her life outdoors. She
responds very well to her name, and plays well with other dogs.
Behaviour with cats is unknown.
Schotzi - Adopted! - 3 year old female
black and tan GSD, good with children and
other dogs, friendly,

for her (time-wise.) Schotzi is housetrained and very well behaved
in the house, and used to being in a crate for short periods of
time.

sweet girl with lots of potential.
Serena - Adopted! -
approximately 3 year
old female, larger size (weighs approximately 75 pounds), black and
tan coloring. She appears very friendly, knows sit and down, good
with most other dogs. She is a large framed dog, quite tall.
Serena was a stray at animal control who was never claimed.
Travels well in a vehicle, likes to be petted.
Tahoe - Adopted! - approximately one year
old male GSD, approximately 70 pounds, will be around 80-90 as a
full grown adult. Tahoe is very dark in coloring, black and red
with lots of black, dark face. (Due to his young age he will most
likely be slightly lighter in coloring as an adult.)
He has a pink strip down the middle
of his nose which may or may not turn black in the summer.
His ears do stand up very erect but
he was a bit nervous when his pictures were being taken. VERY sweet,
a bit submissive, accepts handling (ear cleaning, nail clipping)
very well, loves tummy rubs. Tahoe was a stray at animal control
who was never claimed.
Ginny - adopted! -
3 year old female GSD,
very classic black and tan coloring, good size, strong, very
friendly. She knows the commands sit and down. Ginny appears to be
good with other dogs but is known to NOT be good with cats.

tan coloring, friendly, large size (about 28 inches at the
whithers.) Good with
kids. Very good natured, gentle dog.
Ruby Tuesday - Adopted!
- 7 month old female GSD, beautiful dark coloring, classic
black and tan. Given up by a family who could not give her the
attention she needed. She has had some obedience training but is
not housetrained, although she is crate trained. Very playful and
sweet with dogs she knows, a bit afraid of those she doesn't but
warms up to them quickly.
Inga - Adopted! - between 3 to 5 year old female. She
has been WELL loved (a bit overweight) she has a very loving
dispositon, is housebroke. She was in the dog pound in Vernal over
the Christmas holidays, no one has come to look for her. She has
been very well cared for, well groomed. For more information on
Inga, contact Jacque at hobbs@easilink.com.
Roxie - Adopted! - 3 1/2 year old black and tan (picture taken through a window,
sorry) female, very long and thin, sweet, a bit shy, very
friendly but protective of her owner, good with other dogs
(including small ones)
and with cats, and birds. (She has tried to chase horses in her
current home so is coming back to rescue.) Roxie nipped a young
child who fell on her when she was asleep, so was given up by her
former owners. Because
of this, she can ONLY go to a home that does not have young
children. Roxie is housetrained and crate trained.
Jackson - Adopted! - 5 to 7 year old male,
smaller size, black and cream coloring. Very sweet boy who is
really coming out of his shell. Good with older children or adults who won't
make sudden moves that would scare him, sweet, unsure of himself.
Would probably like a companion dog to play with or someone who can
spend lots of time with him, he is doing well with
female dogs in his foster home.
Callie - Adopted! - 17 month old female,
good with other dogs, cats, and with children, large size (about 27 inches
at the whithers, weighs 78 pounds) so may be better with slightly
older children, not due to agression but just her sheer size.
Callie is reserved with strangers but warms up to them quickly.
She is housetrained and crate trained, and a sweet girl.
Shilo (now Milo) - Adopted! - 13 month old male WHITE gsd
given up by owner who didn't have time to care for him properly. Big
boy, well behaved and very sweet, but hasn't had much training.
Already doing very well with crate training. Shilo can be a bit
vocal when stressed, liks to sing along with the radio or any other
dogs making noise.
Makita (now Lulu) - Adopted!
- approximately 8 month old female, either a sable shepherd
or a shepherd/malinois mix. Very energetic and playful, appears to
know the basics of sit, down, etc. Makita needs a family that will
work on training her and help her reach her potential. She will be
a great dog for the right owner.
Missy - adopted! - 2 1/2 year old female
GSD (born 5/25/99), black and tan very
friendly and happy girl. Missy has a lot of love to give
to her new family. She is being given up by her current owner who
is moving out of the country soon. Missy has had seizures since she
was 7 months old and has been on Phenobarbital to control them ever
since. With the medication she does not have seizures at all, but
without it the seizures will start again. Her
monthly medication is only $10, she gets two pills a day. She is
housetrained and prefers to be indoors with her people. She is
spayed and up to date on shots.
Cheyenne (now Sam) - Adopted!
- approximately 2 year old female GSD, being given up by her
current owner because she plays too roughly with the 10 pound dog
that was the owner's original dog (he has never required vet care,
but owner is afraid that the small dog will get hurt eventually.)
Cheyenne is very good with children, unknown status with cats. She
would do best as either an only dog or with a similar sized dog due
to her energetic, playful nature. Cheyenne knows basic obedience
commands (sit, down, go to bed, etc.) and is spayed and up to date
on all of her shots. Pretty black and tan
coloring with erect ears.
Nadine (Now Kadey) - Adopted!
3 1/2 year old black and tan female, turned in by an owner
who had only recently acquired her and found he didn't have the time
to devote to her. Good with children and other dogs, unkown with
cats. Friendly and curious nature.
Update: Kadey now has a great home of her own with her own three
kitties to love, and a mom to throw the tennis ball for her for
hours.
Pace - Adopted!
- 1.5 year old black and tan male, good with other dogs, almost
afraid of
cats, but NOT good with chickens (thinks they're a tasty snack!)

children to play with and a few kitties to love and slobber on.

special home because he has a medical condition called Enzymatic
Pancreatic Insufficiency that requires daily medication and a good,
healthy diet. He is a sweet boy that is looking for just the right
home. For more information on Jaxson, contact the
Teton
Valley Humane Society at 208-354-3499.
JD - Driggs, ID - Adopted!!
- 4 year old male GSD, black and tan, very sweet face. JD
loves to play with balls and in the water. He cannot go to a home
with children and might do best as an only dog. He can be
protective of his food and toys, but will make a wonderful companion
for the right person or older family. For more information on
JD, contact the
Teton
Valley Humane Society at 208-354-3499. JD (now Jade) was adopted
by someone who saw him on our site!
Nakoma - Adopted!
Five to 6 year old spayed female, great with kids,
livestock, cats, and other dogs are ok although she can get jealous
of them. She may be better suited to be an only dog. Nakoma is a
large dog, very tall and big framed. She does have
a little trouble with her hips in the cold weather. We are pretty
sure it is just arthritis, it doesn't slow her down, she still runs
and plays. She is good in
the house. She loves her rocks, when you leave a door open to the
house or the car you will find some presents that she has left for
you in a nice neat pile in the doorway. She is just a real nice
dog. (Nakoma was listed as Nikona and was formerly in Lewistown, MT.
She is now in Logan with the Utah rescue and her name is really
Nakoma according to the vet paperwork.)
Chaquita - Adopted! - 4-5 month old chow/GSD mix puppy taken in by college students who then realized they did
not have the time to devote to the puppy. Working on housetraining
and basic obedience skills.
Jessie - adopted! - 5 yr. old spayed female
German Shepherd. She is AKC
registered with papers. She is a very well tempered dog who likes to
play fetch and chase. She enjoys the outdoors. Jessie is good about going
to the bathroom where whe is supposed to. She is very good with other
animals (dogs and cats) and she is excellent with small children.
Jessie
is a great companion who likes walks, rides in the truck and she loves
to do tricks. She listens well and barks rarely unless she or someone in
her family is threatened. Jessie is a super dog that would make a great
friend for someone who loves German Shepherds. For more info email
Jaque hobbs@easilink.com for
more info. Or, you can call 789-2025 or 781-1818.
Zeus - adopted!
- 7 year old AKC registered male, liver/red
coloring. He looks a lot
like a GSD/Siberian Husky cross, but has AKC papers to prove he's
purebred GSD. His sire's lines are all white, his dam's lines are
all Black and Tans, he is a very distinctive liver/red color with liver
colored nosepad and lighter eyes. A very striking dog, unique
coloring that is quite unexpected in a purebred GSD. Friendly with
other dogs but NOT good with goats or cats.
Shiloh - Adopted! - 6 year old Black and Tan
female, good with other dogs, cats unknown. Friendly, eager to
please, very sweet. Shiloh was an outside dog all her life so she is
now learning the comforts and fun of being and inside dog, including
house/crate training. She needs a loving family to show her how
much fun it can be to get attention and give and receive love.
Capone - Adopted!
- approximately 1 year old male black and tan, weighs
about 85 pounds. Capone was rescued from an abusive situation by a
concerned person and has been learning the ropes of living in a
kind, caring home, including obedience and housetraining. He now needs
a loving family of his own to bond to and be their forever dog.
Kita - Adopted!
- 6 year old spayed female GSD, german/working bloodlines
(bred by Inger Olaveson from SLC.)
Current family has no time to spend with her and would like her to
have a better home where she will get more attention. She is good
with most other dogs, better with males as she is somewhat dominant,
but not good with cats, wants to chase them. She tends
to pull on the leash, but is very well behaved in the house,
housebroken, and a
wonderful companion. Good with children of all ages.
Talia - adopted!
- approximately 12 week old female, possibly a GSD mix. She
has a coat that resembles a GSD, but her ears are just not quite
right for a GSD. She may be part GSD, she may not, no guarantees
are made as to her adult looks or size (which could vary from 40 to
80 pounds.)
She is cute, black with tan legs. Like most 10 week old puppies,
Talia is active, playful, and ready
for love and training. Learning to be crate trained and walk on a
leash. She was a stray in Heber, so her exact genetic mix is
unknown.
Reno - Adopted!
- 13 to 15 month old male GSD, black and tan coloring. Reno
was an unwanted pet (child dumped his pet at his parents and failed
to care for it) who was turned into animal control in Utah county.
He is very affectionate, walks well on a leash, but has had little
training. He has been an outside dog all his life but is now
being crate trained and learning housetraining. Reno was allowed to
run free in his old home so he needs someone willing to work with
obedience lessons (come, etc.) and a fenced yard. He seems a bit
afraid of other dogs, but does well with friendly ones.
Zor - adopted!
- 7 year old black and tan male, beautiful rich coloring,
very friendly and happy, appears to get along with cats, does well
with other dogs. He was a stray whose owners apparently moved (phone
disconnected) and left him behind.
Rayna - adopted! - 8 month old female,
classic black and tan GSD with slightly longer fur. Rayna is
friendly and does well with other dogs in her play group. She
hasn't had a lot of training and gets very excited, but one-on-one
she is a sweet dog. She needs a committed, firm but fair owner who
will work with her, train her, and help her to reach her full
potential. Despite not much handling as a pup, she responds fairly
well to grooming, bathing, etc.
Acadia - adopted!
- approximately 14 month old female GSD, black and tan with
one floppy ear. Seems very sweet, appears to be good with cats, is
friendly with other dogs. Unknown housetraining status but she is
keeping her crate clean and dry.
Truke - adopted! - 5 year old (on April
1st) solid black male, papered,
neutered and up to date on shots, not good with cats or small dogs.
Can be dominant and may be best as an only dog or with just one
other more submissive female dog. Very friendly, housetrained,
doesn't chew on or destroy things, good with children, very well
behaved, and crate trained.
Selena - adopted!
- approximately 1 year old female GSD mix, ears don't stand
up.
Bridget - Adopted! (Casper, Wyoming)
- approximately 7 months old, gsd mix, possibly with
australian cattle dog. She is housebroken,
has been spayed, is current on all her shots and has started on her
heartworm meds. She is such a sweet little dog and very well behaved
(except for the usual puppy shinanigans of chewing everything in
sight). She comes when called, sits and stays (most of the time). I
am just now getting her started on leash walking (using a harness).
She loves carrying her little toy around in her mouth and going
places in the car, especially for hikes. My boyfriend and I have
taken her on lots of hikes to get rid of some of her energy! She is
excellent in the car - in fact, she tends to go to sleep - I don't
know if it's the motion of the car or what. She likes to retrieve
balls and other things and loves going to bed at night in her kennel
with her cozy bed in there. During the day, she naps on a round
filled dog bed. She is fine with my cat, she just can't understand
why Caitlin doesn't want to play with her! I don't think she has a
vicious bone in her body, but my cat is very jealous and is quite
unhappy with things. Oh, by the way, my vet says Bridget will be a
small medium sized dog - probably get up to no more than 30 lbs.
She weighs 24 now and is 7 months old. Vet says she does have some
GS in her - you can tell in her face, which is very pretty.
For more information on Bridget, contact Anne-Marie at 307-237-4676
or 307-267-3854.
Becky - Adopted!
- approximately 4-5 year old female GSD, given up due to
owner's financial reasons. She appears to have had training in the
past, gets along well with other dogs and kids, and is housebroken.
Currently located in Jackson, WY. Very friendly, sweet dog.
You can email her current foster mom Tina at
bdaddyll@wyoming.com or
give her a call at 307-732-1311.
Norman - Adopted!
- 5 year old male, black and silver in color, who (brace
yourself before you click on his head shot to see the full body
picture) was SHAVED by his former owners as an attempt to control
their new baby's allergies. It didn't work, and now Norman is bald,
embaressed, and looking for a new home where his coat can grow back
out. In the meantime he needs to be protected from sunburn and the
cold weather. He is sweet, well behaved, housebroken, good with
kids and other dogs. Located in Boise, ID. Contact Joan at findadog@hotmail.com.
Inga - Adopted! - 2 year old female GSD/Malinois mix.
Inga is a sweet dog, but very protective and can be intimidating to
children. She is in need of an experienced owner who can be fair
and set boundaries for her. If you are interested in Inga, contact
Phylene of Animal Oasis at 435-723-1184 or email
elliemay@favorites.com .
Tomas - Adopted!
- approximately 4 year old male, black and tan, tall, VERY
nice, good with small dogs as well as large. Tomas is an absolute
sweetheart and appears to be already housetrained. He was a stray who
went unclaimed in SL County area, but has obviously had training.
Rides well in cars. A real gem of a dog. Does not appear to be good
with cats.
Max P - Adopted!
- approximately 12 month old male GSD, a bit on the smaller
side, he weighs just 60 pounds, may weigh approximately 70-75 pounds
when full grown. He has beautiful black and
tan (almost red) coloring, and the end of his tail has a little curl in it.
Max was found wandering by a kindhearted woman who took him in and
has worked on housetraining him and putting some weight on him. He
is good with her two maltese dogs and cat, children, and likes horses too.
Max would love to have a family of his own to love and play with.
Duke - Adopted!
- 4 year old Long Haired male, very large (over 100 pounds).
Friendly, good with other dogs, cats, kids, but hasn't had a lot of
training and is VERY mouthy. At heart he is a real sweetie though,
and can be very gentle and patient. Loads of hair!
Nichita - adopted!
- 10 month old AKC papered female, black and tan, energetic, active,
friendly once she gets to know you. Appears to be good with cats and
other dogs, was housetrained as a pup.

- 14 month old female, black and tan, plush coat. Very
friendly and playful, good with other dogs. Comes from working lines, her
parents are both Schutzhund titled dogs. AKC registered from german
lines.
Blanca - Adopted!
- approximately 9 to 12 month old female GSD mix, probably
mixed with Husky or Malamute. Very shepherdy-looking face, but a
VERY light cream, almost white undercoat and light black sable
markings. Very striking looking pup, but not at all your typical
GSD looking dog. Sweet, vocal, needs training, rides well in a car,
very playful and loves attention.
GowJai - Adopted!
- approximately 5 year old male White GSD. GowJai's owner
has cancer and is no longer able to take care of him. He is a well
behaved, housetrained male who can be protective of his territory
but is good with strangers away from the home. He knows some basic
obedience commands (in Chinese). A very
pretty boy.
Buddy - Adopted! - 3-4 year old male Long
Haired GSD or gsd mix, friendly and sweet, and good with other dogs.
He is a sweet, sweet boy, shown in these
pictures with Joan, one of his rescuers. Buddy is VERY good with
children, housetrained, and very well behaved in the house. He
loves attention from people and is eager to please. Buddy needs a
cat free environment.
Guiness - Adopted with Schotzi!
- 6 year old male Long Haired
GSD, loves his sister Schotzi (below) but is not real good with
other dogs. Friendly, very good with children and adults,
housebroken, given up due to family health and owner's lack of time.
Guiness was shaved by his former owners, his fur is normally much
longer.
Schotzi - Adopted with Guiness!
- 6 year old female Long Haired
GSD, loves all dogs and all people. Gets very nervous when her
"brother" Guiness is not around, so we'd really like to place her
with him in a home with no other dogs (and probably no cats.) Very
sweet disposition. Schotzi was shaved by her former owners, her fur
is normally much longer. Given up due to family health and owner's
lack of time.
Truman - Adopted!
- one to two year old male Long Haired
GSD, black and tan,
very pretty, nice big head, but VERY, VERY thin. Truman was a stray taken in by a
kind person who couldn't keep him so he was turned over to animal
control, who contacted rescue. Truman weighs 63 pounds and probably
should weigh 85 or more. Friendly, good with other dogs, a bit shy
at the moment. Vocal (aren't they all?) Truman is like superman,
(leaps tall buildings in a single bound) so he needs a mostly indoor
environment. He doesn't hop fences when you're out in the yard with
him, he just jumps them to come sit on the front porch and ask to be
let in the house.
Chevron (Chev) - Adopted!
- approximately 2 year old male GSD, very nice black and red
coloring, friendly, playful, good with small dogs, cats, and other
dogs. He was a bit timid at first but is not more outgoing and
playful, would prefer a nice playful dog as a
friend, He loved to sleep
on the bed in his previous home, is housetrained and knows a few
commands (sit, down.) Weighs about 65 pounds, a bit on the small
side. He had a very visible pink scar on the edge of his nose leather when
he came into rescue but it is already beginning to pigment up and is
barely noticeable any more.
Ginger - Adopted!
- approximately 6 year old female GSD, black and
tan coloring. Ginger is a bit overwhelmed by all the changes in her
life at the moment, but seems very sweet, willing to please, and
friendly. She is good with people, other non-agressive dogs, and
appears to be good with cats. Very calm and quiet, loves attention
and plays well with other dogs. The picture is not the best, sorry,
the sun is shining on her face in spots and makes her look at bit
funny, she's really quite a pretty dog.
Rhea -Adopted!
- 4 1/2 year old female Long Haired GSD, born November
8th, 1997. She is smart, but she can pretty much still be a very
big puppy. She loves being with people and will be protective of her
new family. She is wonderful with children, appears to be good with
cats in her foster home (but likes to terrorize squirrels in her present environment.)
Plays well with other dogs and loves to go for long
walks. Crate trained, housetrained, some obedience training. Bred
in Salt Lake City by Angie Richards.
Zeke - adopted!
- one year old male GSD, black and tan. Crate trained but
not fully housetrained. Good with small dogs, unknown status with
cats. Needs some obedience work, is a bit rambunctious and would be
overwhelming to young children, but he was very good with the
children in his former home. He loves to play in the water and
snow, and chews on bones and toys. He likes to be groomed, and
prefers hugs and rubs over food treats. Not a random barker, but
will bark protectively if something seems suspicious to him.
Given up because his previous
ownerse didn't have enough time to work with him.
Oscar - Adopted!
- 3 year old male GSD, black and tan. Crate trained,
housetrained, great with children, good with small dogs but not with
cats. Pulls on leash but is well behaved in the house. Given up
because previous owner is moving out of state.
Sedona - Adopted!
- approximately 4 year old female GSD, black and tan
coloring, medium sized. Sedona was a stray at an animal control
facility, so nothing is known of her background. She is a fairly
dominant female, would do best with a male dog or as an only dog.
Not good with cats or small dogs, but wonderful with children and
adults alike. Active, strong, pulls on leash. Appears to be
housebroken, asks to be let out, and know basic obedience commands.
Sasha - Adopted! - 4 year old
female, good with children and other dogs. Black
and Tan, houstrained, crate trained, nice female. Given up due to
inability to care for her properly. Sasha is cat aggressive and
VERY very strong, not suitable for very young children to walk on
leash although she is good with them in the home.
Harley - Adopted!
- approximately 22 month old male (the one on the left in
this picture, he's come back from his original adoptive
home due to family health issues)
black and tan coloring, very friendly, housetrained, good with
most other dogs. He was turned over to animal
control due to killing livestock, so he needs a city, not country,
home. Loved the woman in his former home and spent the day following
her around the yard, would lay quietly on the porch while she
gardened, etc.
Abbi - Adopted!
- approximately 3-4 year old
female GSD, stock coat. Active, friendly, very nice looking female.
Appears to get along well with most other dogs. She was a stray at
animal control and after a few days in her foster home we've
discovered why - she jumps fences (or wriggles out through some small
opening, we haven't actually seen her escape yet) so she'll need
to be a primarily inside dog and needs a HIGH fence and committed
owners.
Arctic - Adopted!
- approximately 5 year old male GSD, friendly,
playful, plays nicely with other dogs. Was a stray at animal
control around the 4th of July, may be afraid of thunder or
fireworks.
Mikhail (Mickey) - Adopted!
- approximately 2 year old plush coated black and tan
(mostly black) male GSD. Mikhail was released to rescue due to
health issues in his family. He is good with other larger dogs, and was
good with a small poodle in his former family, appears to be good
(inquisitive) with cats. Friendly, loving, housetrained but spent
most of his time outdoors in his old home. AKC registered.
Kresta - Adopted!
- 5-6 year old female, long haired GSD, black and tan.
Very doggy looking female, large head, very nice features. Nice
dark coloration. Well behaved, walks nicely on leash, accepts
grooming and handling well. Good with other dogs and
is good with cats and small dogs. She is housetrained and VERY
sweet. Doesn't like being crated but behaves well loose in a small
room in her foster home (no accidents.)
Jasmine - Adopted!
- approximately 3 year old female GSD, dark coloring, sweet
and friendly, was a bit overwhelmed when she first came into rescue
but is now doing well. Playful and happy girl, loves to
play with dogs, a bit hesitant with new people. Unknown behaviour
with cats.
Murray - Adopted!
- black and tan, friendly, sweet disposition. Murry is a
tall boy and was quite skinny at the time when he came into the
rescue, but has now gained weight and is looking very healthy. Murray has a
big 'ol head and sweet eyes. He likes to play with other dogs
although he can be
somewhat dominant, probably not good with cats, good with children.
Gizmo (now Cash) - Adopted!
- approximately 2 year old male GSD, found wandering with a 4
foot chain attached to his collar. Friendly, good with other dogs,
unknown behaviour with cats. Needs some love and affection and to
gain some weight. Very handsome boy. Gizmo has a new buddy, Archie
the lab/golden mix, to play with and a very loving mom to adore.
Logan - Adopted! -
approximately 4-5 year old male White GSD, he was abandoned by his
former owner when the house was foreclosed on. A concerned neighbor
(whose children have played with Logan over the years)
continued to feed him and contacted rescue to come to Logan's aid.
With temperatures hovering in the single digits or below zero, it
was imperative that Logan be brought in out of the cold. He is now
in a temporary foster home. Logan apparently gets along best with
female dogs. He weighs about 95 pounds (he has lost weight since
we got him and is looking VERY fit and trim now), is a big, tall
boy,
and is neutered. He is very friendly, and is quiet and well
behaved. We discovered in his foster home that Logan is very good
with cats, and most other dogs, but does not like Chinchillas.
Borden - Adopted!
- approximately 11 year old male GSD. Borden was dumped at
a local animal control facility because his owners had grown "tired
of dealing with him." He jumps or climbs fences, so they had
chained him, and he jumped again and hanged himself, resulting in a
large hemotoma at the back of his skull which required surgery to
drain. He seems a bit unsteady on his rear legs, probably due to
age related arthritis, and is reportedly afraid of loud noises like
trains and thunder. His teeth are very badly worn, he may have
been a rock chewer in younger years. After a dental cleaning,
neutering, draining the hemotoma, and updating his shots, he is now
looking for a retirement home to enjoy his last months in comfort.
Borden is a sweet, friendly, housebroken dog who loves adults
but is not too fond of children (perhaps due to pain in his hips?)
He gets well with most other dogs, and has NEVER jumped the four
foot chain link fence in his foster home We think he was just
lonely in his old home and that is why he was jumping the fence
there. Do you have room in your
heart and home for this sweet old guy? Borden's adoption fee is
negotiable, we just want him to have a good home for his remaining
time.
Garth - Adopted!
- approximately 9 year old male coated (long haired)
shepherd, black and cream coloring (lots of black). Very sweet,
perhaps a bit arthritic, but from reports has led avery active life,
walking or jogging daily with his previous owner. His owner died
and the wife took him to the pound the next day and dumped him
without even telling the shelter workers his name. For some reason
(probably injury) Garth only has three toes on both back feet! He
is good about being brushed and bathed, and loves attention. Crate
trained and appears to be housetrained. Update: Garth was adopted
this weekend by a great family that wanted to have an older, sweet,
calm do like Garth in their family. Thank you so much for giving
Garth a chance! He is such a sweetie and we hope you'll be very
happy with him.
Tessa - Adopted!
- approximately 2 year old female black and tan GSD or GSD
mix, dark coloring, pretty mask on her face. Tessa is a well
behaved, housetrained, loveable girl, but she is chasing the cats in
her new adoptive home, so the family that adopted her from animal
control has asked GSD rescue to help find her a good home. She gets
along well with children and adults and some other dogs, but is
probably not good with smaller dogs since they will seem like cats.
She knows some basic obedience commands and walks nicely on leash
when there are minimal distractions. She is currently on prednisone
and clavamox for some mild allergic itching.
Misty - Adopted!
- approximately 22 month old female, (the one on the right in
this picture) sable coloring, very
friendly, supposedly housetrained, good with most other dogs, but
is a dominant female (aren't they all!) She was turned over to animal
control due to killing livestock, so she needs a city, not country,
home. She is doing well in her foster home aside from a little
counter surfing.
Kaleigh (Kay) -
adopted!
- 2 year old female Long
Haired GSD, looks like a little lion right now with sort of a "mane"
around her face. Very large size, energetic, vocal, happy, active
dog. Needs an active family to give her sufficient exercise and
play time. Sweet, well behaved, appears to be housetrained.
Molly - Adopted!
- 3 year old female, black and red
coloring, tall girl. Molly is
energetic and playful, and appears to be good with other dogs and cats.
We had heard she was a fence jumper but she has made NO attempt to
jump fences at the boarding kennel, so it appears that the fence she
was formerly contained by was in poor repair. She is good with
children and small dogs and cats. Very friendly and sweet.
Molly is reportedly afraid of thunder and fireworks.
Sampson - Adopted!
- approximately 1 year old male, Black and Silver/Tan male
GSD, or GSD mix. Was found wandering loose at a
campsite and had apparently been there for several days, was very
skinny and extremely dirty. Very nice boy, good with other dogs,
including small dogs, appears to be good with cats. Good with
children, well behaved but still a puppy in some respects like
chewing. Needs some attention and love.
Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt - Adopted!
- approximately 18 month old male Belgian Malinois or
Malinois cross. Tall, very thin (you can see every rib), may have
been out on his own for a while. He was found running sheep in
Uintah county. He can only be adopted out to city home, should not
be near farm animals because of his propensity to chase. Very
sweet, happy, agreeable boy, does well with other dogs. Unknown
behaviour with cats.
Brent - Adopted, but passed away.
- approximately 8 year old male GSD, black and cream
coloring. He is quite sweet and nicely behaved, we're not sure why
his former owner didn't come looking for him at animal services.
He gets along with other dogs, and appears disinterested in cats
when tested with them. Update: Brent was adopted and spent a
wonderful week in his new adoptive home where he was given lots of
love and individual attention. Unfortunately, it was discovered
that Brent had advanced bladder and spinal cancer, and a decision
had to be made to put him out of his misery. He is now happyily
romping at the bridge and watching over his mom and little sister
Kady.
Jacque - Adopted!
- approximately 3 year old female GSD, classic black and tan
markings. Very pretty, nice, energetic, likes other dogs but status
with cats is unknown. Another nice dog whose owner didn't come to
claim her from animal services.
Lola - Adopted! - approximately 3 year
old female, sable coloring. Lola was apparently lost by her owners
in Nevada and then transported to Utah by a construction worker who
then left her on a building site where she roamed for a few weeks
until a kind-hearted person took her in. She was very shy at first
but now is a friendly, loving dog with people she knows, still a bit
nervous around strangers. She is good with cats and other dogs and
is sweet and loving. She is up to date on all shots, spayed,
heartworm tested, and ready to go to a new home.
Harley (IV) - Adopted! - nope, not the
Harley that was just adopted, yet *another* dog named Harley. 14
month old male GSD, slightly floppy ear, he is very sweet and
playful, LOVES to play fetch although he's not too great about
giving the stick back! His former owner denied that
he was her dog even though he was wearing his rabies tag that was
registered in her name.
Klaus - Adopted! - 16 month old male
GSD, light coloring. Klaus is pretty much housetrained, is crate
trained, and is a very sweet, well behaved and playful boy. He gets
along well with other dogs and is curious but friendly with cats.
He has (OFA style, not certified) good to excellent hips and elbows.
His family couldn't take him into the housing they were moving to,
so gave him up to rescue.
Bodie - Adopted! - 8 month old male,
large size, black and tan coloring. Lived with pugs in his previous
home and was good with cats there. Unknown behaviour with cats now.
Not housetrained, will need some obedience and house manners. Very
friendly and sweet boy, very large size, energetic. Lousy side shot to show Bodie's coloring.
Casi - Adopted! - 8 week old female (as of
10/17) GSD mix puppy, striking bluish coloring with a cute white
stripe down the center of her face and on her muzzle, with a white
tip on her tail. She does not look particularly like a shepherd.
She is the puppy on the left in the big picture.
Josi - Adopted! - 8 week old female (as of
10/17) GSD mix puppy, tan colored body with a GSD's black muzzle
coloring. May look somewhat like a shepherd when she is older.
She is the puppy on the right in the big picture.
Sadi - Adopted! - (yes, another dog
named Sadi(e).) Sadi is an approximately three year old female GSD,
very sweet, appears to be housetrained, is up to date on all shots
and heartworm negative. She was left tied to the fence at the
animal control officer's house because her family was moving and not
taking her along. She is good with other dogs and with cats. Very
sweet and friendly girl, well behaved, calm disposition. Loves to
go for rides in the car.
Sophie - Adopted!
- 6-7 year old female, light colored black and cream, very
friendly, walks nicely on leash, knows sit and down. Sophie is
extremely friendly with people, a bit wary of other dogs, and does
not appear to be good with cats. Sophie was recently diagnosed with
cataracts
that do not limit her vision at all, her retinas are
clear, so her opthamologist did not recommend any corrective
surgery. She needs very inexpensive eye drops daily for the rest of
her life (cost is less than 10 dollars per month for the eye drops)
and is learning to accept eye drops in her foster home.
Schuyler - Adopted!!
- approximately 4 year old male GSD, stray unclaimed at
animal control in Utah County. Black and tan, very nice, good with
other dogs, friendly, good with kids and good with
cats and small dogs (chihuahua sized.) Relatively well behaved but
curious with peacocks too. Unfortunately, Schuyler has started
having seizures. We believe that they are being controlled by the
medication he is on, but further tests are being run to make sure we
have him at a theraputic level. He is still a wonderful, loving,
sweet boy, and desparately needs a home where he can get the love
and attention he so deserves. If anyone can see it in their hearts
to adopting this special needs dog, we'll work with you on his
adoption fees. He needs a permanent, stable home environment in
which he can flourish.
Beau - Adopted!
- 2 year old AKC registered male German Shepherd Dog, long and lean
with black and cream coloring. Beau is good with other dogs,
including small dogs. He is good (curious) with cats, horses,
cattle, and peacocks. He is housebroken and very sweet and
well behaved, but a bit nervous about being left behind.
Does ok in a crate. Beau is a very nice dog and will
be a wonderful addition to someone's family. Loves to play ball.
Beau can jump a 6 foot chain link fence with ease, so he needs to be
a mostly indoor dog. He would like a home where he could sleep on
the bed at night :-) to be close to his people, or at a minimum be
allowed to sleep right next to the bed.
Malcom - Adopted! - approximately 7 year
old male GSD, very friendly, good with other dogs and good with cats.
Malcom was originally a
stray who went unclaimed at the animal shelter in Weber county. He
was adopted last year, but due to a change in circumstances, his
current owners don't have the time to give him they would like, so
they are looking for a new home for him. He is very affectionate,
housebroken, calm and well behaved in the house.
He is a great dog in need of a wonderful home. Although you can't
tell it from this picture, he does have two ears and they both stand
up!
Ace - Adopted! (Brigham City, UT)
Ace is a 2 year old neutered German Shepherd mix with a medium
smooth brown and black wavy coat. He has a long, lanky build that
makes him look like his "mix" part is perhaps greyhound or
afghanhound. He is currently living at
the shelter due to a transfer from another shelter. This guy is
friendly, energetic, and wants to please. He gets along well with
all kids. If you would like more information on Ace, call Animal
Oasis at (435) 720-0346 or email elliemay@favorites.com.
Shari (Now Nisa) - Adopted! - approximately 5 year
old female GSD, good with other dogs, appears to be good with cats.
Friendly, well behaved, housebroken and walks fairly nicely on
leash. Stray at animal control so we don't know a whole lot about
her background. Overweight at the moment so she's been put on a
diet.
Sophie (3) - Adopted! - 15 month old female
GSD, black and tan coloring. Just a bit shy but a real sweetheart,
loves to give kisses. Sophie is housetrained and good with cats,
probably good with horses. She was given up by her owners due to
not having a fenced yard.
Kenai (Kenny) - Adopted! - 8 month
old male GSD, light colored face, black and cream coloring. Very
petite size, he will probably weight 60 pounds at most as an
adult. Kenny appears to have been traumitized by severe handling by his
former family, so is nervous about SOME new people (barks and avoids
them, but warms up when introduced) and
situations. He has come a long way in the couple of months that we
have worked with him, and now he needs a family that will continue
to work hard with him to expose him gently to new people and new
situations. We are going to be VERY picky about Kenny's new home
because it is important that he go to experienced dog owners. He
cannot be placed in a home with cats, small dogs or birds due to his
high prey drive. However, a home with another adult larger breed
dog would be wonderful for him, particularly a home with a dominant
female who will keep him in line. :-)
Dakota - Adopted! - 13 week old male GSD,
very sweet, cute and playful. He was a stray at animal control so
has no AKC papers, but he definitely appears to be purebred.
Dalton's brother.
Rest In Peace Dalton - We are
heartbroken to let you know that Dalton passed away Monday morning due to
complications from a intestinal bacterial infection. Despite IV's
and antibiotics at the vets, he was not able to pull through. We
are terribly sad to see him pass so soon, but want you to know that
he got lots of hugs and cuddles while he was ill this last week.
13 week old male GSD, very sweet, cute and playful. He was a stray at animal control so has no AKC papers, but he definitely appears to be purebred. Dakota's brother.
JD - Adopted!
- approximately 7 year old male GSD, black
and tan coloring
with greying on the muzzle. Nice, well behaved male, good with other
dogs.
Can be a bit food posessive, so would do best in
a household with no very small children who couldn't understand that
they need to not bother him while he is eating or chewing on his
bone. He knows sit and down and walks fairly well on leash.
Willow - Adopted! - approximately 11
month old female Black and Tan GSD, small size and very slender
frame. Willow is a bit shy of strangers and needs an understanding,
loving home that will work with her, doing obedience and socializing
her with other people and dogs. Willow is somewhat dominant and would
most likely do best in a home with a male dog as opposed to another
female.
Carson - Adopted! - 5-7 year old male GSD, large
frame, weighs 83 pounds. He's a nice male, friendly, still a bit
confused about why he's lost his old home (he was a stray at animal
control who was not claimed). He doesn't appear to be good with
cats.
Alpine - Adopted! - 1-2 year old male GSD
or GSD mix, dark black coloring with tan accents. Friendly, appears
to be good with other dogs, not good with chickens, unknown
behaviour with cats.
Sierra - Adopted! (the dog, not the cat) -
2 year old housetrained female, good with other dogs. Friendly and
playful, has a bit of energy, would be a good playmate for a
happy labby or rottie boy. Good with children. Probably not good
with cats. Darker red coloring with nice black saddle.
Tanner - Adopted! - approximately
one year old male GSD, dark coloring. Friendly, playful,
does well with large and small dogs, unknown behaviour with cats.
Housetrained, leashtrained, has had professional obedience training.
Dori - Adopted! - approximately 18 month
old female GSD, recently had puppies, she and her two mixed breed
puppies were dumped at the animal shelter by her former owner. Dori
appears to be what is called a "blue" GSD, where her black coloring
is actually a steel blue color not unlike a blue doberman or weim.
It is a recessive trait and has absolutely no health consequences
for the dog. Friendly and good with other dogs, behaviour with cats
unknown. She is not housebroken but is doing well with crate
training in her foster home. She is intelligent, playful, and
friendly with children and adults.
Thorston - Adopted! - 2 year
old male, black and tan
coloring, very engaging personality. Thorston is a handsome guy,
weighs about 75 pounds, housetrained, and
knows sit, down, and shake. He has a loving personality and likes
to give kisses and get hugs. Good with some other dogs when he
knows them, but can display agression with dogs that try to
dominate him. He is curious about
cats. He had some barking issues (fence defensiveness) in his
former home.
Sasha II - Adopted! - 4 year old
housetrained female, good with other dogs, possibly good with cats.
Friendly, knows a few commands, well behaved, sweet and loving.
Not good with very young (toddler) kids, but find with older
children. Lighter tan coloring.
Dugan - Adopted! - approximately two year
old male GSD, very dark coloring. Dugan is housebroken and well
behaved in the house. He is really a sweet boy, very affectionate
and friendly, does well with other dogs. Status with cats is
unknown at this time (we're checking with the former owner.) He is
being given up by his owner due to not enough time to spend with
him.
Tucker - Adopted! - approximately 5 year
old male German Shepherd Dog, lighter tan and black coloring.
Tucker is very friendly, well behaved with other dogs, unknown
status with cats. He may be housebroken, sleeps in a crate, walks
fairly nicely on leash. Tucker was a stray at animal control so we
don't know a whole lot about him yet. He is a big boy, weighs 90
pounds. He is neutered and up to date on all shots, and heartworm
negative. Tucker is a gem of a dog and will make someone a
wonderful companion. We adore him and just can't say enough nice
things about him. He's be a great addition to your family, call us
and make him yours today!
Roma - Adopted! - 4 year old male GSD,
very black in coloring, tall and lanky, and needs to put on about
10-15 pounds. He knows some obedience commands. Has never been
housetrained but is doing very well with crate training at his
foster home. Seems very playful and happy with other dogs, poor
behaviour with cats. Very handsome boy.
Mystique - Adopted! - 6 month old
female German Shepherd Dog, black and red coloring. Sweet and just
a bit timid, probably hasn't had a lot of socialization. She's a
very cute little girl, friendly and loves to play with other dogs.
She would love to have a family of her own to housetrain her and
perhaps have an older brother or sister to play with.
Northern - Adopted! - a
large (not overweight), 4 year old, purebred black and tan
German Shepherd. He is in good physical shape and up to date on his
shots. He has been through obedience class so he minds well and is
very accepting of new people. He is somewhat dominant with large
male dogs, does better with females,
but he gets along with small dogs and cats extremely well. His
original owner moved to a large city so he couldn't take Northern
with him. He has been well taken care of and it shows in his
personality. He would be a great addition to any family that likes
large dogs.
Kira - Adopted! - approximately 2 year old
female Long Haired GSD. She is VERY sweet and friendly, walks
nicely on leash and seems friendly with other dogs. She also
appears to be good with cats. We think she is housebroken, and she
is doing well with crate training. She is shy with strangers at
first but warms up to them quickly. She doesn't appear to have had
a lot of training but is a quick learner. She loves pets and treats
and is eating well. She is spayed and up to date on all shots,
heartworm negative, and ready for a new home!
Perri - Adopted! - 12 month old female
German Shepherd Dog, she was turned in to animal control by her
owners who said she jumped their fence. We don't know yet if she
can jump a 6 foot fence but she can probably go over a 4 foot one.
She is very sweet, friendly, appears to be housetrained, good with
other dogs and children.
Jaimee - Adopted! - 8 month old female
German Shepherd Dog (or mix), very dark beautiful black coloring
with red/tan accents. She is friendly with other dogs except around
her food bowl. She is good with people and other dogs, just a bit
shy, and loves to go for car rides. She is afraid of the garden
hose. Friendly with children. Jaimee is a sweet girl in need of
a forever home.
Seven - Adopted! - a female 7 month old
German Shepherd Dog with black and red coloring. She
is pretty well housetrained, knows a few
commands, and is good with other dogs, will chase cats if they run.
Her ears are not yet standing up but may still do so.
Sierra - Adopted! - she's not a shepherd, but
she sure does love them! Sierra is a 6 1/2 year old spayed female Maine
Coon cat, up to date on all her shots, and declawed. She likes dogs
and does NOT take any guff from them, and especially loves shepherds.
If you have some cat-loving shepherds and would like a special
addition to your family, please contact us. Sierra would like to
live in a home with a friendly dog or dogs, but would prefer to be an only
cat.
BlackJack - Adopted! - approximately 6-8
year old male German Shepherd Dog, black and tan coloring.
BlackJack absolutely LOVES to play ball, he is rarely found without
a ball in his mouth, and he loves to throw the ball at your feet and
get you to play with him. He is friendly with other dogs,
housebroken, well behaved and a real charmer. We just couldn't pass
up his handsome face at animal services and we are so happy we took
him in when his time was up, because he is a real gem. Now he just
needs a family and home to call his own (and a steady supply of
tennis balls to play with.)
Brando - Rest In Peace - a 12 to 13 year old
male GSD who was a stray at animal control and not reclaimed by his
original owner. We regret to inform you that Brando had to be put
down last Saturday due to medical conditions. He could no longer
walk and it was unfair to him to make him live like that. Rest in
peace sweet boy.
Brando is a sweet, mild, well behaved dog who
appears to be housebroken, is good with other dogs, and very
friendly. He is a bit stiff from sleeping on concrete but walks
well without any assistance. He appears to have Pannus (like Dahli)
which we are treating. This sweet old boy could use some angels who
will take him in and give him some last good months or years.
Donations to support his medical care (medicines for Pano, Rimadyl
for arthritis, and money to pay for a badly needed teeth cleaning)
would be much appreciated.
Sherna - Adopted! - 9 month old female
German Shepherd Dog, sable coloring. She is friendly and playful,
good with other dogs,
and appears to be good with cats. She is very sweet and well behaved, likes to
play with balls and give kisses.
Cinder - Adopted! - 5-6 year old female
Black Labrador Retriever. She is very sweet with people, but
prefers the company of male dogs over females. She loves tummy rubs
and is very cute and well behaved. Behaviour with cats is unknown.
Brangwen - Adopted! - approximately 5 year
old female GSD, plush but not long coat, black and tan coloring.
She seems very sweet, is supposed to be housebroken. Given up by
owners who no longer wanted her. She appears good with other dogs,
behaviour with cats unknown. (This is a very poor picture of her,
she is very pretty!)
Chloe (Clo-ee) - Adopted! - almost 3 year
old female GSD, very nice dog, bigger size. A very smart girl who
likes to use her nose to find things. We are not sure if she is
housebroken, she is a bit dominant over other dogs but doesn't
fight, likes to play with friendly dogs.
Hope - Adopted!! - approximately 8 year old
female German Shepherd Dog, rescued from certain death by Wasatch
Humane of Bountiful, UT. Hope is housetrained, very well
socialized, friendly and gentle with everyone including cats. She
had a badly injured leg when she was rescued that was later
amputated. She is doing great getting around on three legs, even
managing stairs easily, as she had not been using the injured leg
for some time. For more information or to adopt Hope, please
contact Cheryl at Wasatch Humane at cheryl@wasatchhumane.org.
Update: Hope has a new home in Colorado!! Way to go Hope and Beth!
Luna - Adopted! - 2 to 4 year old female
GSD, black and red coloring. Very small (currently only weighs 39
pounds, will probably max out at 50 pounds) and fox-like in
appearance. She is sweet, a bit shy, playful and fun with other
dogs. Her foster family is working with her on housebreaking and
socialization and reports that she is doing very well.
Mazzie - Adopted! - 4 year old black and
tan female
German Shepherd Dog, AKC registered. She is great with other dogs
and with children, likes to chase cats. Very friendly and playful,
a real sweet dog. She is housebroken and well behaved.
Shadow II - Adopted! - a 4-5 year old
female German Shepherd Dog with black and cream markings. She is a
bit shy, but sweet and well behaved, good with children and cats.
Her owner got divorced and the trailer park where she moved allowed
the Labrador to go but discriminated against "wolf dogs"
Chrissie - Adopted! - approximately 8
month old female German Shepherd Dog, black and tan coloring.
Chrissie is very sweet and playful, loves the company of other dogs
or humans. She doesn't appear to be housebroken but is learning her
crate training well. Very cute, smaller sized female.
Basil - Adopted! - approximately 10 month old
male, plush coat, black and tan coloring. He looks like a little
bear in person, very friendly and playful, good with other dogs,
behaviour with cats unknown.
Debo - Adopted! - 3 1/2 year old
male German Shepherd Dog, neutered and up to date on all shots.
Debo is good with farm animals and older children, good with friendly dogs
but afraid if they are agressive, does not appear to be good with
small dogs. He is very sweet and well
behaved, housebroken, and loving. Behaviour with cats unknown.
Kestrel - Adopted! -approximately 2 1/2 year
old female Long Haired GSD, very sweet, beautiful
coloring, friendly and affectionate, plays well with other dogs.
She is crate trained and housetrained. Kestrel would do
best in a cat-free environment.
Kestrel was diagnosed with severe bilateral hip-displaysia last year. After discussion with the veterinarian, it was decided that the best option for Kestrel would be to perform Femoral Head Osteotomies on her hips. The first surgery was performed in February 2001, and her second surgery took place March 28th, 2001. She is now walking well and running and playing actively, and is pain free. She's ready to go to a new home! You can see pictures of her pre- and post-surgery, here.
German Shepherd Rescue has NO funds for surgeries such as the ones Kestrel needed, and paying for them is severely straining our meager resources. We would like to establish a medical fund to help pay for her surgery and for other dogs who in the future may need extraordinary medical care (for example, Borden who had the hematoma that needed to be drained.) If you would like to make a donation to help pay for medical expenses like Kestrel's surgery, you can use the PayPal payment button below, or if you'd like to make a payment directly to the veterinarian, you can send donations (in the name of Northern Utah GSD Rescue) to: Blacksmith Fork Vet Clinic, 16 E. 6200 S., Hyrum, UT 84319.
