I coordinate the Network Security Team which currently consists of one Senior Network Security Specialist (my mentor) and a student. We are searching for a couple more Security Specialists (Jan 2008).
I am also finally involved in belated efforts to formalize and gain institutional approval for It Security Policies.
I provide support for the processing of those dreaded ScanTron (tm) answer sheets. You know, the fill-in-the-spots multiple-guess test sheets that are being used in more and more of those big classes that you have to take. We actually have a pretty neat system for grading those answer sheets and e-mailing individual scores to each student.
How am I qualified to do all these things? Put your mind at ease; I have two degrees in Biology from USU after a B.S. in environmental sciences from Michigan State University. I guess that just proves that I am (or once was) trainable.
When I'm not on the job, you can push my hot button by asking about alternative transportation planning and especially Bicyclist Advocacy in Cache Valley. I still have a very warm button about solid waste management (aka "recycling").
When I'm not fuming about the way some kind of -cycling ought to be, you may find me spending time with my wife, Kathy. My daughter, Jenny, is a USU and U Montana grad, married to Scott Shine, a USU grad and U Oregon grad student. My son, Bill, married Laura, a charming young lady. They made us grandparents with the birth of Tyler in August 1996, KayLee in March 2000 (near the end of the millenium) and Andrew in October 2002. In 2003, Bill completed a major in Culinary Arts and is nos the sous chef at a Salt Lake Restaurant. Laura completed a major in Music Therapy. Engineering students at USU already know Kathy as the advisor who rules their lives while trying to get into their departmental Professional Program.
My family interests extend to the Clan MacBean in North America. My immediate family can be found around my home town of Jackson, Michigan
I'm learning all I can about Geodesic Domes because I want to build one in Cache Valley. Here are all of the Domes that I have located in and around in Cache Valley.
