To the Editor, 27-Mar-1996 Who is teaching the "Creative Cycling Techniques" class? From my office I can see the 700 North/1100 East intersection (you know, near the parking booth at the Engineering parking lot). In about 2 minutes time, as I waited for a computer program to finish processing, I watched 5 bike riders each make a different style left turn from westbound to southbound. First a "gutter bunny" rode past the intersection and turned left in the pedestrian crosswalk. Then the next one saved about 20 feet and a second of travel time by going the wrong way in the oncoming right-turn slot. Then another gutter bunny gave a hand signal and turned in front of overtaking traffic. Shortly another followed from the gutter without the magical incantation of the turn signal. And finally a sidewalk terrorist ventured into the right turn slot to brave oncoming traffic and then passed between the parking both and an oncoming car. Who thinks up all these neat variations? When will motorists see the opportunity to be equally creative? It's fun to watch; I hope nobody gets hurt.
