Hackett at 5 months, both ears are now standing up. Notice all the tan at the base of his ears, that is new in the past few weeks.

Hackett discovers how fun it is to dig in the sand box.

I received pictures of Georgia, Hackett's mother, and Yakima, Hackett's father, plus a couple of pictures of some of his littermates.

Georgia with her puppies, who are probably one to two weeks old. It is obvious where Hackett got his coloring from!

Hindi the GSD pup, Hackett's brother, at just about 8 weeks old. The date on the picture is wrong. :-)
Guide Dog
Yakima
Yakima, Hackett's father, is a working guide in Texas. This picture was recently sent to Yakima's puppy raiser by his partner. Yes, for those of you who may be wondering, Yakima IS neutered, and has been for 3 years. Hackett and his littermates are the result of an AI breeding.

Hackett at 16 weeks, still all ears, or should I say, all EAR. He's wet because he'd been playing in the irrigation ditch.

Hackett was born February 5th, 2000, in San Rafael, CA. For his first 8 weeks, he lived at the campus of Guide Dogs for the Blind in San Rafael. On April 2nd, I traveled to the GDB campus to pick up Hackett. He will be living here in Logan with me for the next year.

This series of pictures was taken on April 16th, so Hackett is 10 weeks old.

Hackett watches Detroit dig in the sandbox with his rock. "Hey Detroit, what'cha doing with that rock?"
Hackett tries to play with Detroit and the rock. "Let's play"
"C'mon Detroit, it's my turn to have the rock!"
Hackett discovers his tail.
"Hey you guys, listen to me, I'm the boss now!"
"Err..uhhh...what I meant was...YOU'RE the boss!"
"He he he he, no one will find me here!" Hackett tries to hide from the big dogs by crawling under the shed.
"Safe at last!"
Hackett likes to spend his time picking up things off the ground and eating them, particularly dirt clods, so it is a constant chase in the back yard keeping things away from him. He is usually on a leash but I let him off leash to take these pictures.

Lanie, who is raising Holiday the black lab, holding Hackett at Tully and Drama's good-bye pizza party. Hackett is just 9 weeks old in the picture. Compare his ears in this picture to the ones above and you will see how much difference a week has made. His ears are on the way up!

Pictures from Hackett's first few days with me

This is how I first saw Hackett and Heinrich, in the arms of an IA who brought them out to meet me. Hackett is on the left, Heinrich on the right. Heinrich is much smaller, fuzzier, and lighter than Hackett. Hackett has a mostly all black face.

A close up of Heinrich's face.

Another pose together on the lawn.
Some close ups of Hackett's face.
H and H and more H and H and even more H and H together. They are just too cute!
More pictures of Hackett playing and eating a tulip leaf and grass salad.

Here are Sherri and Heinrich and Sherri's daughter Nola with Heinrich.

You can see Hackett's older GSD "brother", Detroit, on his own web page.
